WET Your Plants
Updated: Sep 3, 2020
Water is a necessity for life... just like us, plants need water to survive! This quick guide will teach you how to take care of your plants so that you don't over/under water them.
WATERING HABITS YOUR PLANTS ENJOY!!!
Water early in the morning or late in the afternoon while the sun is still weak. Too much sunlight and the water will evaporate too quickly.
Water in LONG intervals, focusing on watering deep into the roots. The roots need all of the nutrients which are carried in through water. The stronger the roots happier the plants.
Water the base of the plant and try to avoid watering the foliage ( aka the leaves).
Irrigation systems can be a great investment and I gotta guy!!!

TREES &SHRUBS: Newly planted gardens need to be water directly every day for 14 days.
ANNUALS & PERENNIALS & VEGGIES: water with a soaker hose, focusing on watering the soil
Water sunny container gardens daily, part shade ( less than 5 hours) every other day and shady ones every 3 days. Water them until the water drains out the bottom! To check the dryness, stick your finger into the soil down to your knuckle. If it's all dry, you need some, you guessed it, water!!!
Add a thin layer of mulch ( not woodchips) to the garden beds and containers with compost to help with water absorption.
WATERING HABITS TO AVOID
Watering a little bit often.
Watering from above. Don't act all high and mighty with your plants, they are your equals. Treat them as such, water them at their feet!
NOT WATERING WHEN ITS REALLY REALLY HOT!
ARE YOU THIRSTY? SO ARE YOU PLANTS
PEACE LOVE AND HAPPY PLANTS!
